WEDDINGS: ALISON LEIGH HARTER JUSTIN JAY JOHNSON

FAYETTEVILLE — Alison Leigh Harter and Justin Jay Johnson were united in marriage at 4 p. m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at First Baptist Church of Fayetteville. The Rev. John Ray of Youth With a Mission in Siloam Springs officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Liz Harter of Springdale and Kim and Lance Harter of Fayetteville. She is the granddaughter of Dorothy and George Harter, also of Fayetteville, and Mary-Jane Lion and the late John Malcolm Douglas of San Jose, Calif.
The bridegroom is the son of Gayle Johnson and the late Dr. Gary Johnson of Checotah, Okla. He is the grandson of Eldon and the late Lola Davis of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Mildred and the late Pete Johnson of Wheatland, Wyo.
The church was decorated with ivory candles. Nuptial music was provided by pianist Celice Clark. Jason Foster and Linda Mohlman were readers.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ivory mermaid gown of silk organza featuring tapered bodice detailing and an organza flower at the side. She wore a two-tiered, waist-length veil of tulle and carried a bouquet of ivory anemones, white snowberry and black seeds.
Kristy Harter of Fayetteville was her sister’s maid of honor and Ashley Estes, also of Fayetteville, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Jade Holcomb and sister of the bridegroom Jayme Johnson, both also of Fayetteville; cousin of the bride Katie Douglas of Carmel Valley, Calif.; and Crystal Johnson of Oklahoma City.
They wore tea-length dresses in black featuring square necklines, loop detail at the hemline and black leather belts at the waist. They carried bouquets of ivory anemones, white snowberry, black seeds and twigs.
Dr. Jeremy Johnson of Oklahoma City was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were brother of the bridegroom Jace Johnson of Tahlequah, Okla.; Blake Brewer of Fayetteville; Steve MacDonald, also of Oklahoma City; Taylor Atwood of Dallas; and Brad Whitmus of Muskogee, Okla.
Helping to seat the guests were Travis Sumpter of Checotah, Josh Bonnell of Fayetteville, Cody Jennings of Muskogee and John Duke of Eufaula, Okla.
A reception followed at Elks Lodge in Fayetteville. Arrangements of red anemones, red apples, red snowberry and twigs decorated the room. Tables were centered with red apples and cinnamon sticks.
Reception music was provided by a disc jockey.
The bride has a bachelor’s degree in apparel studies from the University of Arkansas.
The bridegroom has a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and a master’s degree in sports management, both from the UA. He is an academic counselor for Razorback athletics.
After a wedding trip to Boca Chica, Dominican Republic, the couple will reside in Fayetteville.
