Louis M. Mitchell, 69, of Fayetteville, Ark., died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Ark. He was born Oct. 2, 1938, in Boston, Ark., to Solomon Mitchell and Fairlena Thomas Mitchell. He retired as a diesel mechanic for Northwest Arkansas Truck and Equipment in Springdale. Survivors include his wife, Mary Mitchell; a son, Vernon Mitchell of Rogers, Ark.; two daughters, Brenda Keeting of Greenland, Ark., and Tina Wrobel of Fayetteville; seven grandchildren; and a greatgrandchild. Visitation will be from 6 p. m. to 8 p. m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Calvary Baptist Church in Fayetteville. Funeral services will be at 10 a. m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Gene Fulcher. Burial will be at the Tharp Cemetery in Fayetteville. Arrangements are by Moore’s Chapel of Fayetteville. Grove, Okla.
Burl Dean Laughlin, 70, of Grove, Okla., died Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at his home. He was born May 24, 1938, in Mc-Donald County, Mo., to Amos Laughlin and Rachel Ruddick Laughlin. He was a foundry worker for Bentonville Casting. He was a Pentecostal. He enjoyed fishing, toy trains, camping and singing karaoke. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Laughlin and Melvin Laughlin; and three sisters, Dorothy Cooper, Julie McCool and Mary Blevins. Survivors include three sons, Rick Laughlin of Rogers, Ark., Ronny Yancey of Springdale, Ark., and Randy Yancey of South Carolina; four daughters, Tammy Brewer of Carthage, Mo., Rachel Copp of Bentonville, Ark., Frances Nichols of Pineville, Mo., and Cheryl Slack of Pea Ridge, Ark.; two brothers, Earl Laughlin of Pineville and Lawrence Laughlin of Rocky Comfort, Mo.; three sisters, Eva Laughlin of Pineville, Sharon Kay Fletcher of Washburn Mo. and Christine Bristow of Kansas City, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 p. m. to 8 p. m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge, Ark. Graveside services will be at 10 a. m. Friday, Aug. 22, at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rogers, Ark., with Brother Jamie Cope.
Meridian, Texas
Ross Dee Maxwell, 61, of Meridian, Texas, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at Meridian Manor. He was born March 3, 1947, in Amarillo, Texas, to Dr. Wayne Dee Maxwell and Dorothy Elizabeth Maxwell. He graduated from high school in 1968 and received a degree in business management in 1972 from West Texas State University. He worked in various positions in management. He was last employed with Wal-Mart in Rogers, Ark., and Bentonville, Ark., from 1982 to 2006, before his health forced him to retire. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Wayne Dee Maxwell, in 1985. Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Elizabeth Maxwell of Clifton, Texas; a sister, Marilyn Sue Maxwell Holland of Clifton; a brother, Dr. Jon Thomas Maxwell of Idabelle, Okla.; and a number of other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at 10: 30 a. m. Friday, Aug. 22, in the Conference Room of Meridian Manor in Meridian. Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date at the Bella Vista Cemetery in Bella Vista, Ark. Arrangements are by Lawson Funeral Home of Meridian.
Noel, Mo.
Murrel Leo “Pete” Anderson, 73, of Noel, Mo., died Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo. He was born Sept. 30, 1934, on the family farm in Jane, Mo., to Murrel Anderson and Myrtle Nichols Anderson.
He was a 1952 graduate of White Rock High School. He married Byrlene Pruitt on Aug. 10, 1956, in Carl Junction, Mo. In 1960, he and Byrlene purchased a dairy farm in Noel and named it Double A Dairy. He retired from the farm in 2001. He was an active member of the Noel Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing, being outdoors and life on the farm.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Byrlene Anderson, on Nov. 16, 1999.
Survivors include a daughter, Gayla Jones of Southwest City, Mo.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Anderson and Linda Anderson, and Jim Anderson and Michelle Anderson, all of Noel; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce Marrs and Ted Marrs of Jane, Mo., and Joann Whitehead and Steve Whitehead of Carthage, Mo.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Bill Anderson and Marie Anderson of Jane and Jack Anderson of Anderson, Mo.; six grandchildren, Dustan Jones, Lindsey Penn, Tiffany Myrick, Jolene Davila, Lauren Anderson and J. D. Anderson; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6 p. m. to 8 p. m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Noel Chapel of Ozark Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at the Noel Chapel of Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor Dick Lett. Burial will be at the Noel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dustan Jones, J. D. Anderson, Tim Marrs, J. C. Linton, Chuck Heriford and Dennis Wellesley. Memorials may be made to the Noel Cemetery Care Fund, in care of Ozark Funeral Home of Noel.
Rogers
The Rev. Harrel Gene Cato, 70, of Rogers, Ark., died Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers. He was born May 1, 1938, in Mc-Clellan, Ark., to Alvin Cato and Myrtle Hughes Cato.
He served as a pastor in several Southern Baptist churches for nearly 50 years: the First Baptist Church of Gregory, Ark.; the First Baptist Church of Rose Bud, Ark.; the First Baptist Church of Knoxville, Ark.; the First Baptist Church of McCrory, Ark.; and the Rogers First Baptist Church. He was most recently the minister at Monte Ne Baptist Church in Rogers, where he had served since March 2001. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Judy Cato, whom he married on Jan. 17, 1960, in Gregory, Ark.; a daughter and son-in-law, Regina Donnell and Hugh Donnell of Rogers; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Oleta Duncan and Marvin Duncan of Little Rock, Ark., and Reba Watts and Doyle Watts of Bryant, Ark., and two grandchildren, Garrett Donnell and Maggie Donnell.
Visitation will be from 5 p. m. to 7 p. m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Monte Ne Baptist Church in Rogers.
Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at the Monte Ne Baptist Church.
Burial will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rogers.
Pallbearers will be Edwin Pearrow, Billy Kittrell, Eddie Coleman, Gene Neal, Dale Jobe, Mark Strickland, David Kelley and Noel Cwenar.
Arrangements are by Epting Funeral Home of Bentonville, Ark.

Elvis Franco, 6 months, of Rogers, Ark., died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, in Rogers. He was born Jan. 16, 2008, in Rogers to Oscar Franco and Mary Cruz Valle Franco.
Survivors include his parents, Oscar and Mary Franco; two brothers, Diego Steve Franco of Sonsonate, El Salvador, and Oscar Alfredo Franco of Rogers; and a sister, Rocio Arely Franco of Sonsonate.
Visitation will be from 10 a. m. to 9 p. m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Francos’ home, at 810 Century Drive in Rogers.
Graveside services will be at 10 a. m. Thursday, Aug. 21, in Babyland at the Rogers Cemetery with Father Salvador.
Arrangements are by the Benton County Funeral Home in downtown Rogers.
