Retha Marie Owens, 75, of Decatur, Ark., died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, Ark. She was born Aug. 4, 1933, in Joplin, Mo., to Harry Carman and Maggie Marie Manos Carman. She married Ervin Owens on Aug. 2, 1951, in Siloam Springs, Ark. She had lived in the Decatur area for the past 56 years. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy Carman, Ernest Carman, and Gene Carman. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Ervin Owens; five sons and daughters-inlaw, Larry Owens and Kathy Owens of Lowell, Ark., Dennis Owens and Connie Trammell of Cherokee City, Ark., Bryan Owens and Twila Owens of West Fork, Ark., Ikie Owens and Timmie Owens, and Aaron Owens and Carol Owens, all of Decatur; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl Vaughn and Mike Lowe of Decatur; 18 grandchildren; and 22 greatgrandchildren. D. ” Green Leisure, 25, of Decatur, Ill., died Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, in a car accident. She was born Sept. 19, 1983, in Rogers, Ark., to James Thomas Green and Deborah Jo Green.
She was employed by Sleep Inn and Wing Zone. She was a member of the Moose Lodge in Decatur. Before leaving Arkansas, she was an active member of the Girl Scouts with troop 16 and assisted Boy Scout pack 136 / troop 525. She enjoyed caring for her three dachshunds, Kody, Zak, and Sofie.
Survivors include her husband, Lance D. Leisure; her mother, Deborah Jo Creech-Green; a brother, Terry “ TJ” “ Gringo” Joe Green, currently deployed overseas; a half-brother, Troy Kiesel; her grandmother, Betty Rhea Allen of Rogers: father and mother-in-law, Larry Leisure and Julie Leisure of Decatur; a brother and sister-in-law, Mike Leisure and Christin Leisure of Decatur; a sister and brother-in-law, Audum Black and Jeffery Black of Decatur; her grandmother, Louise “ Mamaw” Leisure of Harristown, Ill.; her grandparents, Frank Lott and Eleanor Lott of Forsyth, Ill.; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and numerous god-children. A memorial service was held Thursday, Nov. 20, at Grace United Methodist Church in Rogers. Funeral arrangements are by Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home of Decatur.

Norma Jean Gammon Pierce, 84, of Indianapolis, Ind., formerly of Decatur, Ark., died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008. She was born Sept. 16, 1924, in Decatur, to William Henry Gammon and Nancy Ellen Riley Gammon. She worked as a data processor with Block’s Department Store. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawson F. Pierce. Survivors include two sons, Michael Pierce of Shelbyville, Ind., and Ronald Pierce of Colorado; a brother, George Gammon of Arkansas; a sister, Lavina Wallace of Rogers, Ark.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 11 a. m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Falling Springs Cemetery, near Decatur, with Everett Scott. Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs, Ark. Lecanto, Fla.
Kathryn J. Walker, 83, of Lecanto, Fla., died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at the Crystal River Health and Rehabilitation in Crystal River, Fla. She was born May 28, 1925, in Chicago, Ill., to John B. Joyner and Lucille Joyner. She moved to Lecanto 11 years ago from Bentonville, Ark. She was a retired LPN and was a member of the Disciples of Christ Church in Bentonville, and attended the Harmony Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman M. Knight in 1981; a brother, William Joyner; and a sister, Edith Taff. Survivors include a daughter, Karen R. Jones of Gravette, Ark.; a sister, Lois Archer of Bentonville; a granddaughter, Nancy Grey of Fayetteville, Ark.; her special friend, Doyle Turner of Lecanto; and numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation arrangements are by Strickland Funeral Home of Crystal River.
Siloam Springs
Henriette K. Hall, 89, of Siloam Springs, Ark., died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, in Springdale, Ark. She was born Jan. 15, 1919, in Pella, Iowa, to John B. Klienpaste and Sophia Smits Klienpaste. She married Sherwood D. Hall in May 1940, in Chicago, Ill., at the Moody Memorial Church. She lived in Atlanta, Ga., for 40 years where she worked for the Census Bureau as a census taker, was active in the Presbyterian Church and the Christian Women’s Club. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Sherwood D. Hall. Survivors include a daughter, Adriane Carr of Siloam Springs; two sons, Kenneth D. Hall and Sherwood A. Hall, both of Atlanta; a sister, Bernice Swanson of Sebring, Fla.; and seven grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2 p. m. Friday, Nov. 21, at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs, with the Rev. Randy Rowland. Arrangements are by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.
