Bentonville
Stephen Ray Cary, 52, of Bentonville, Ark., died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, in Austin, Texas. He was born July 21, 1956, in Springfield, Ill., to Richard Cary and Elma Toni Toenningsmeier Cary.
He enjoyed working with children as a basketball coach, Boy Scout leader, and foster parent. His free time was spent reading science fiction, space adventure research, designing super-computers, eagles, wolves, and working with Habitat for Humanity.
Survivors include his wife, Carla Bell Cary; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sarah Hepler and Shawn Hepler, and Elizabeth Gregrich and Emerson Gregrich, all of Bentonville, and Joyce Cary of California; two sons, Ross Cary and Joshua Yaldua; a sister and brother-inlaw, Jill Loftus and Kelly Loftus of Illinois; mother and father in-law, Virginia Bell and Harold Bell; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 p. m. to 4 p. m. Sunday, Nov. 23, at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville.
Funeral services will be at 1 p. m. Monday, Nov. 24, at Oakley Chapel United Methodist Church in Rogers, Ark., with the Rev. Brian Timmons and the Rev. Jim Keith.
Burial will be at the Bentonville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ross Cary, Matt McIntosh, Shawn Hepler, Steven Schmidt, Doyan Greenfield and Elizabeth Gregrich.
Bobbye Joyce Mendenhall, 90, of Bentonville, Ark., died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, at Bradford House Nursing Center in Bentonville. She was born March 27, 1918, in Claude, Texas, to William John James and Rosa Alice Manning James.
She and her husband operated their dairy farm and were the caretakers of the Hart Cemetery in Bentonville for many years. She was a member of the Bentonville Church of Christ for more than 65 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross Mendenhall, who died in 1987; four siblings, Forrest Miller, Lenore Schurle, Jesse Kimmel and Eugene James; a nephew, Will James; and two nieces, Dione Trimble and Billie Jean Garber.
Survivors include a nephew, Mel James and his wife, Yvonne James of Bentonville; a niece, Mickey James of Bentonville; 10 great-nieces and nephews, Greg James, Julie James, Renee Hacker, Rhonda Trimble, Jan Garber, Terry Garber, Mike Garber, Tania Meiners, Debra James-Greenawalt and Joni James.
Visitation will be from 4 p. m. to 6 p. m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville.
Funeral services will be at 1 p. m. Monday, Nov. 24, at the Bentonville Church of Christ.
Burial will be at the Hart Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mel James, Greg James, Scott Greenawalt, Jan Garber, Troy Almand and Ronnie Myers.

Rogers
Lucille Helen Babcock Cope, 97, of Rogers, Ark., died Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, in Rogers. She was born July 7, 1911, in Hutchinson, Kan., to Isaac Clifton and Helen Clifton. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Marion Babcock in 1971; her second husband, Felix Cope in 1983; a son, Jack L. Babcock in 2005; a brother, Everett Clifton; and a sister, Esther Johnson. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Keith E. Babcock and Pat Babcock of San Marcos, Calif.; a daughter-inlaw, Audrey Babcock of Charlotte, N. C.; four grandchildren, Pam Sowders of Desert Hot Springs, Calif., Julie Patterson of North Pole, Alaska, Robyn Mykris of Sun City, Calif., and Kirt Babcock of Escondido, Calif.; her close friends, Hattie Poole and Mandy, both of Rogers; 10 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held Friday, Nov. 21, at the Rogers Cemetery, with the Rev. Tommy Hinson. Arrangements are by Benton County Funeral Home in downtown Rogers.

Howard Dean Ditzler, 62, of Rogers, Ark., died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, in Rogers. He was born Aug. 3, 1946, in Kosoma, Okla., to Bruce Ditzler and Edith Gregg Ditzler.
He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He married Nina Ann Ditzler on April 27, 1970, in Sapulpa, Okla. He was an auto parts salesperson and enjoyed fishing, hunting and working on old cars.
He was preceded in death by four brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Nina Ann Ditzler; a son and daughter-in-law, Howard Ditzler and Dena Ditzler of Wilburton, Okla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle Owens and John Johnson of Denton, Texas; a brother, Don Ditzler of Moyers, Okla.; a sister, Kay Upchurch of Moyers; and three grandchildren, Bryce, Ali and Jace, all of Denton.
No services are planned.
Cremation arrangements are by Benton County Funeral Home in downtown Rogers.
