BELLA VISTA — The rifle and pistol range at the Highlands Gun Range will be closed for a couple of weeks for improvements.

The Property Owners Association is constructing a 6-foot-tall security fence around the perimeter of the rifle and pistol range, Lakes and Parks Superintendent Vern Olafson said in a POA news release.

A tree-cutting crew has cleared a 10-foot section of right of way to make room for the fence.

The 1, 450-foot fence, which will have barbed wire and security gates, should be complete by the first week of December, depending on the weather.

“ We apologize for any inconvenience this closure may cause, ” Olafson said. “ The new security fence is an important project that needs to be completed before the winter is upon us. ”

The trap and skeet ranges will remain open during their regular hours of operation.
