Bella Vistans will have a new way to experience the magic of Christmas, as the Property Owners Association sponsors its first Winter Carnival.

The free event is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 13, from 10 a. m. to 2 p. m. at Riordan Hall. Activities will include visits with Santa Claus, storytelling, games, crafts, prizes, a quilt raffle and a mouse house, where children can buy gifts for family and friends.

Employees at the Village Wastewater Co. made a variety of games for the event, including Grinch and snowman bean-bag tosses, moving dart games, decorate-the-tree tosses and Plinko.

Meanwhile, the Bella Vista Property Owners Association’s Recreation Division is developing crafts for the carnival. Children will be able to make an assortment of ornaments to hang on their Christmas trees.

Children also will have the opportunity to share their Christmas wish lists with Santa Claus, and Mrs. Claus will distribute door prizes.

A handmade quilt will be raffled off during the event. The quilt is currently on display at Bella Vista Library. Raffle tickets may be purchased at the library, Riordan Hall, Branchwood Recreation Center and the POA’s Membership Services Department.

In addition, the Bella Vista Sunrise Rotary Club will sell food and beverages donated by Tyson Foods and Sam’s Club. All proceeds from food sales will benefit Rotary Club programs and projects.

Students from the Cooper Elementary School choir will perform holiday favorites as the Winter Carnival begins.

Although the carnival is free, space is limited. A snow date is scheduled from 1 p. m. to 4 p. m. Sunday, Dec. 14.
