Help wanted: 14 volunteers to serve on Bella Vista’s committees to make life better here. Contact the Bella Vista Property Owners Association.

These volunteers would join one of the three Property Owners Association joint advisory committees — Golf, Lakes, Recreation — or its operational committee — Village Pride.

The job description includes such actions as listening to property owners, identifying problems with each amenity and suggesting solutions, according to information on the POA Web site: www. bellavistapoa. com.

To get a job, people have to fill out an application, which is then reviewed by General Manager Tommy Bailey and Board Chairwoman Roberta Dale.

“ When I look at committee applications, I look for past participation in community and volunteer organizations, ” Dale said.

She’s also interested in why anyone wants to serve and what talents, skills and knowledge they have that will help a committee. She considers their communication skills, their willingness to learn and their dedication to taking the time to do the work.

Applications can be found on the POA Web site, at the Bella Vista Country Club front desk and at the Membership Services at Town Center. Completed forms must be returned to the Country Club by Nov. 26. The new committee members will be announced at the Dec. 11 P. O. A. Board meeting.

Summaries of each committee’s duties and responsibilities are listed below: Golf — 4 vacancies

The committee advises the POA Board and the administration about everything to do with golf from playing the courses to maintaining them. Each member is responsible for reviewing monthly maintenance of a specific golf course.

The members also meet twice a year with the U. S. Golf Association about the condition of the golf courses. Lakes — three vacancies

The committee members advise the POA Board and administration about the recreational use of Bella Vista lakes, from boating to fishing. They are responsible for the lakes up to the beaches and any associated amenities such as ramps, docks, marinas, fish cleaning stations and seawalls. Recreation — 3 vacancies

The committee members advise the POA Board and administration about all recreational activities and amenities, excluding golf and lakes.

They are responsible for the beaches and parks near the lakes. Members check on the conditions of buildings, swimming pools, parks and playgrounds. They also suggest future recreational activities. Village Pride — an operational committee — four vacancies

The Village Pride Committee’s challenge is to keep Bella Vista looking good. The nine members raise money and work on many beautification projects.

Members are involved in a number of activities throughout the village.

They pick up litter along U. S. 71 from the state line south to Wellington Road; find volunteers to plant and maintain flower barrels on golf courses; organize the volunteer fair, usually held during the Bella Vista Business Fair; help with phone calls for the white-goods pick up in the spring and fall; and organize and run the Deck the Village Contest.

In addition, this year, Village Pride has volunteered to be one of five groups responsible for creating a Christmas tree lighting event at Metfield.
