Jam moves indoors

The annual Christmas parade is planned for 6 p. m., Dec. 5. This year’s theme is a Charlie Brown Christmas and participants are encouraged to model their entry after their favorite Christmas cartoon. A food pantry offering free nonperishable food to Decatur residents will be open every Tuesday from 4 to 7 p. m., at the United Methodist Church in Decatur. Northwest Women’s Breast Center is teaming up with St. Francis Clinic of Siloam Springs to bring mobile mammography to the people. The mobile mammography van will be at Marvin’s IGA in Gravette from 9 a. m. to 12 p. m., Friday, Dec. 5. Insurance claims will be filed for patients. Scheduled appointments are preferred but walkins are welcome. Free mammograms, paid for by the Ozark affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, are available to those who qualify. School will let out for Thanksgiving break on Nov. 21. Classes will resume Dec. 1. School will let out for Christmas break on Dec. 18 and will resume on Jan. 5. Head start
Decatur Head Start is accepting applications for fall 2008 enrollment. It is a free comprehensive program for 3 to 5 year olds who meet eligibility requirements. The high school Family, Career and Community Leaders of America are sponsoring a coat drive to benefit people in Benton County. Those who are in need of a coat can stop by the high school or elementary school to confidentially pick out a coat or sweatshirt. Town hall meetings
The Decatur School District will be holding town hall meetings in place of school board meetings to keep the community informed. The meetings will be held in the elementary school cafeteria at 7 p. m., the third Monday of each month.
