The Gentry City Council holds regular meetings in the city court room at 6: 30 p. m., the first Monday of each month. The Gentry Planning and Zoning Commission meets in city hall at 7 p. m. on the third Thursday of each month. School Board
The Gentry School Board meets at 7 p. m. in the district board room on the third Monday of each month. Springtown Council
The Springtown Council meets at 6 p. m., on the third Monday of each month, in the new community building. The meeting was moved to Nov. 19, this month. Chili supper
The annual Gentry Masonic Lodge chili supper will be held from 5 to 8 p. m., Friday, Nov. 21, at the lodge hall on Gentry Blvd. Tickets are $ 5 for adults and $ 3 for children 12 and under. Proceeds will be used toward scholarships for area youth. Information night
An information meeting for parents of seniors will be held at 6 p. m., Monday, Nov. 24, at Gentry High School, in the library. School counselor Kathy Pipkin will be discussing the (FAFSA ) Free Application For Federal Student Aid, college applications, and local scholarships. Pickin’ in the park has moved indoors to the Gentry Senior Activities Center and will meet there at 6: 30 p. m., the last Saturday of each month, until next spring. Musicians and music lovers are invited to come and join in or just sit back and enjoy the music. Christmas parade
Christmas in My Hometown is the theme for this year’s Gentry Christmas Parade, to be held at 6: 30 p. m., Saturday, Dec. 13. Parade lineup will be at 5: 30 p. m. near the Curran Feed Store.
A Kyla Horton Christmas concert on Main Street will precede the parade. It is set for 5 p. m. at the parking lot of Drs. Alan Lamb and Scott Stubbs.
Santa Claus will ride in the parade and visit with children at the Carl Gym following the parade. Collection week
Operation Christmas Child collection week is Nov. 17-24. Shoe boxes may be dropped off at the Gentry Arvest Bank or at the Save Mart store. The donated Christmas gifts will go to boys and girls who would not otherwise receive a gift. A gospel concert, featuring Leroy and Johnetta Bilby and recording artist Rosalie Jennings will be held at 7: 30 p. m., Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Gentry United Methodist Church. Love offerings will be accepted. Gospel concert
Fred Johnson, called by some “ The Soul of Gospel Music, ” will perform at the First Assembly of God Church, 821 East Main Street, Gentry, on Sunday, Nov. 30. Concerts will be at 10: 45 a. m. and 6 p. m. A nursery will be provided for children 3 and under. Admission to the concerts is free and the public is invited.
