4-H Winners Announced

The Benton County 4-H Foundation held their annual 4-H Achievement Banquet at the Benton County Fairgrounds. The theme of the evening was 4-H - Celebrating the Past, Leading the Present, Inspiring the Future. The evening was enjoyed by 240 guests, including 4-H members, parents and supporters.
After dinner, awards were given to 4-Hers who had completed a 2008 project journal and to those who had won other top honors. Benton County 4-H Foundation Scholarships were awarded to six deserving seniors from around the county.
The following local students received $ 1, 000 scholarships: Jordan Singleton and Chelsea House of Gravette and Hillary Henson of Gentry.
State journal winners were presented with special gifts. Those recipients were Jennie Carter of Siloam Springs; Jordan Singleton and Margie Hoke, Gravette; and Hillary Henson, Gentry.
First year awards were given to two 4-Hers who had been extra busy their first year in 4-H. Gentry youth Rachael Hillhouse won the First Year Award and Dustin Dixon of Siloam Springs won one of the Leadership Awards. Community Service Awards went to four 4-Hers who had excelled in helping others in 2008. The winners were Samantha Lambert and Wyatt Philpott of Gentry.
Junior, Intermediate and Senior County Champions were awarded for their overall 4-H achievements during their 4-H careers. Junior County Champions were Colton Burden of Siloam Springs and Carson Alsup of Gravette. Samantha Brandeberry of Siloam Springs and Jacy Alsup of Gravette took the Intermediate top honors and Jordan Singleton of Gravette won the Senior County Champion title.
Shana Cook of Bloomfield 4-H and Lisa Singleton of Gravette Gleamers were recognized as Leaders of the Year. The “ Friend of 4-H ” award was given to Mr. Tim Summers of Bentonville.
