Guest Editorial : Listening to the people

Most children are familiar with the fable about Chicken Little. The chick assumed the sky was falling after being struck on the head by an acorn. She rounds up Goosey Loosey, Henny Penny and Foxy Loxy to spread the word. There are several versions to the story. One lesson is not to be “chicken” and have courage. The moral in another is don’t believe everything you have been told. The latter could be a modern political tale: Chicken Little jumps to a conclusion and begins to whip the barnyard populace into hysteria. - Saturday, November 22, 2008

Guest Commentary

BY AMIT GHATE Ayn Rand Institute

Everywhere today politicians are blaring that they must save America’s financial institutions, alleging catastrophic risk to the economy were any to fail. [U.S. Secretary of Treasury Henry] Paulson and the entire Bush administration, in a discernible panic, are now pouring $700 billion into the big banks, having already bailed out AIG, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Bear Stearns to the tune of $300 billion. - Sunday, November 16, 2008
