2008 SUMMER OLYMPICS : Spearmon advances at Olympics

Former Razorbacks Wallace Spearmon and Veronica Campbell-Brown successfully completed rounds of the 200 meters on Tuesday at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.
Fayetteville native Spearmon, competing in his third 200-meter race of these Olympic Games, advanced to today's event finals. Spearmon was among the trio of Americans (Walter Dix and Shawn Crawford ) to advance to the finals. He clocked a semifinal time of 20. 14 to finish third in his heat.
"I thought that was a good preview for the final," Spearmon said. "Shawn and [Usain Bolt, Jamaica ] are looking good and I'm trying to run myself into shape after injury. I'm getting faster every round."
Campbell-Brown ran her first 200-meter race of these Olympic Games on Tuesday. Running in heat five, lane six, she won her section with a time of 23. 04. In the next round, the quarterfinals also held on Tuesday, she easily advanced to today's semifinals after clocking a time of 22. 64.
